Inspired by Native American Indian totems and fetishes, these fanciful wooden salt and pepper mills and shakers were created by artist Robert Wilhelm from Ann Arbor, Michigan. William Bounds makes the grinding mechanism.  They have been making the world's finest pepper, salt and spice mills since 1964.  Put the two together and you have functional art. 

This 9" tall mill is hewn from wood and has a hand painted red base with small black and white dots.  The top ball is white with black dashes and dots.  The ceramic mechanism is suitable for BOTH peppercorns and salt crystals.  And, it crushes rather than grinds the pepper which leaves more oil and hence a more flavorful pepper. Screw top adjusts for fine, medium and coarse and everything in between.

A note about William Bounds....
